HOW IT WORKS

Split-Fee Recruiting, Explained

The split-fee model has connected recruiters for decades. Splits Network gives it the infrastructure to work at scale — transparent, tracked, and paid automatically.

01 -- THE MODEL

What Split-Fee Recruiting Actually Means

In traditional recruiting, a single agency owns the relationship with both the company and the candidate. They collect the full placement fee. Split-fee recruiting changes that dynamic: the hiring company posts a role, any qualified recruiter can engage, and when a placement is made, the fee is divided between the job-posting party and the placing recruiter.

The result is broader candidate coverage for companies, access to more roles for recruiters, and a marketplace where specialization is rewarded. Everyone earns based on their contribution. Splits Network is the platform that makes this model operationally viable — handling agreements, pipelines, and payments in one place.

THE PROCESS

From Role Posted to Placement Paid

Five clear steps. Every stage is tracked on the platform so all parties have full visibility.

Company Posts a Role

A hiring company creates a role listing with job requirements, compensation range, and fee structure. They set the total placement fee and the split percentage — for example, 20% of first-year salary, split 50/50. Terms are public before any recruiter engages.

Recruiters Discover and Engage

Specialized recruiters browse the marketplace and engage with roles matching their expertise and candidate network. Each engagement is a formal agreement — the recruiter sees and accepts the fee terms before beginning work.

Candidates Are Matched and Submitted

Engaged recruiters submit candidates through the platform. AI matching scores each submission against the role requirements. Hiring managers review candidates in their shared ATS pipeline, advance them through stages, and coordinate interviews.

Placement Is Made

When the hiring company makes an offer and the candidate accepts, the placement is confirmed on the platform. The system logs the start date, verifies the hire, and begins the guarantee period clock.

Fees Split Automatically

After the guarantee period passes, the placement fee is calculated against the confirmed compensation. The company is invoiced via Stripe. The placing recruiter's share is paid out automatically. Every amount is visible to all parties.

02 -- FOR COMPANIES

One Posting, Many Recruiters

When a role goes live on Splits Network, it reaches every recruiter in the network simultaneously. Specialists engage based on their expertise — not based on who has an existing agency relationship with you.

Broader Reach

Multiple recruiters working a single role means more candidate pathways. You're no longer dependent on one agency's network.

Full Visibility

See every submission, every pipeline stage, every recruiter interaction. Nothing happens off-platform.

Pay on Results

No retainers, no upfront fees. You pay a placement fee only when a hire is made.

03 -- FOR RECRUITERS

Access Every Role, Earn What You Place

The marketplace is open. Any recruiter can browse all posted roles and engage with those matching their specialization. Fee terms are visible upfront — no negotiation, no ambiguity.

Filter to Your Niche

Search by industry, role type, location, and fee range. Only engage with roles where you have a genuine competitive edge.

Submit With Confidence

Your submission is tracked, time-stamped, and attributed. You always know where your candidates stand.

Transparent Earnings

Your split percentage is locked when you engage. No surprises when the placement closes.

The split-fee model has existed for decades. What's changed is the infrastructure to make it work at scale. That's what Splits Network built.
